Announcement of .NET focused 73rd DevClub.lv

Hi!

Come and learn from C# practitioners how are they using advanced .NET concepts and patterns in real life. If you wondered if Rx is a thing, or how code generation works in .NET this is the right place to be.

You are welcome on Martch 14 at 18:30, Zaļā iela 1, 4th floor (Microsoft Latvia office).

Agenda for .NET focused 73rd DevClub.lv:

  • Ivars Āriņš from Adaptive Financial Consulting will give a talk “Introduction to Reactive Extensions”.
Reactive Extensions for .NET (Rx) help developers to deal with sequences of events and there are lot of problems that can be modeled in such a way. The talk will cover basic aspects of Reactive Extensions, such as Observables and Observers, combining and transforming sequences of events. We will briefly look at how Rx compares (and interacts) with async programming and what are the caveats there.

Ivars is Technical Lead and Senior .NET consultant in Adaptive Financial Consulting.

  • Arthur Tabatchnic will give a talk “Building .NET Core tools using the Roslyn API “.
The Roslyn C# gives developers access to the C# language parsing and generation capabilities. This can be leveraged in many ways by building tools that fully understand the code and are capable of generating new code with full comprehension of your codebase. In this talk I will walk you through the basic concepts of the Roslyn and language parsing, building a small tool using these principles and packaging it as a .NET Core tool for easy distribution and usage via the .NET Core CLI.

    Arthur
is a full-stack developer at Innoforce, developing medical software and at KeelDocs, building code documentation tools.
  • Arturs Karbone  from If Insurance  will give a talk “Messaging in .NET via MassTransit”.
What is a distributed system and how to glue the applications in it? Messaging is one of the powerful ways to do that. Let’s go through the common messaging communication patterns together. Recall some theory, understand the difference between message brokers and message buses and see how the last ones help us focusing on writing business features and not concentrating on low-level communication details. The talk will be illustrated with a lot of real-life examples from the Insurance industry.
